Where My Head’s At

I wanted to give a quick status update on the blog and share where my head is right now. As you may have noticed (or maybe not), my posting and content creation has been pretty hit or miss lately. In short, there’s a reason for that—and it’s not just that I’ve been busy, though that’s certainly true.

The bigger issue is that I find the path forward difficult. I try a lot of experiments with money, but unfortunately, most of them end up the same way: a dismal failure, with one recurring conclusion—making money is hard.

Well, let me walk that back a little. For me, making money outside of a traditional job and outside of investing is hard. Those are the two areas I do fairly well in, and maybe that’s nothing to scoff at. Not everyone needs to make money podcasting, blogging, or writing. For most people, those aren’t the primary income streams anyway.

So in a way, my failure is actually a selling point. There are plenty of big-name creators eager to share their path to success—but the path they walk now is nothing like yours. They’re playing a different game: creating content for an audience of millions. Many of them are disconnected from the lifestyle most people live, and maybe they’re not the best source of advice.

But this post isn’t about them—it’s about me. And for me, the vast majority of my success has come from pursuing education, earning professional credentials, finding a job, and then aggressively saving and investing everything I can.

And while that’s worked fairly well, let’s be honest—a blog all about working a 9-to-5 job bores everyone, including me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had other successes.

SoFi has been great to me, and I do recommend them, but there’s only so much I can say.

Other methods worked well in the past—like my phone farm—but not anymore.

Right now, my biggest sources of side income are the podcast, which as of writing makes a few bucks a month, and my phone apps, which also don’t bring in much. Hopefully, I’ll have something new to report soon.
