Book Review Passive Income Ideas: 5 Ways to Make Money online Analyzed

I recently read Michael Ezeanaka’s Book Passive Income Ideas For Beginners: 5 Ways to Make Money Online Analyzed.

I have some mixed thoughts on it.

The Book has quite a bit of fluff at the beginning. Like 8 pages before you get to the table of contents. Lots of promoting other materials. I think this would be better at the back of the book, but then again, maybe less people would see it, so I understand. The first time I read it, the hyperlinks weren’t working. But now as I read it again they are, I guess it's an issue with my reader. Anyways, now clicking on the “Download Audiobook for FREE” link I can see that what it actually should say is get an audible trial and use your free audiobook credit on my audiobook. It isn’t really a free audiobook download. Kind of deceiving in my opinion.

Anyways, so there is more introduction, and by page 21, we have the first idea. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. Now, sure, my book also has a section on self-publishing, but it isn’t the first chapter. A little too circular for my taste. How do you make money online? Well by writing books about making money online! So for that reason, I dislike it as the first idea. But ok, let's have a look. He gives an overview of what KDP is, does some math on royalties in case you don’t own a calculator. Now let's get into the specifics. His advice on writing the book is, “Write the book yourself or hire a ghostwriter to write it for you.” He then explains where to hire a ghostwriter. In my opinion, the biggest part of this idea is actually writing the content for the book, but it is just half a sentence.  And then the advice for marketing the book is again, outsource that. Then there is scoring. I think the most useful advice and content actually comes from the Tips and FAQ section after the ranking.

See, I don’t personally like the bird’s eye view the book offers. It focuses on really high level ideas. This is a way to make money, and sure, it has a step by step process, but some of the steps are like 1.”Write a book.” It isn’t at a detailed enough level for me to just take off and run with it. It's just ideas, not actionable content.

Reading the table of contents, I worry much of the content isn’t really passive either. For example, idea 6, freelancing as a virtual assistant. This does not sound passive at all! (Ideas 6- 50 are available in the full book) Lots of the ideas are a little over-done in my opinion too, drop shipping, become a social media influencer, become a youtuber, become a silent business partner (These ideas actually seem to be similar to what is in the 36 passive income ideas app, which suffers from the same problem I think this book has: much of the content isn’t actionable, it's just ideas).

The book does have a nice clean appearance to it. It uses dual columns for increased readability. It has some nice color in the text. But overall, I don’t think I am going to buy the full edition of this book anytime soon.
